Today’s meeting will begin at ten in the morning.Hindi Voice Typing – Speak Hindi to Text
Speak a Hindi sentence and receive an editable Devanagari draft without switching keyboards. The Hindi setting is available as a browser-dependent beta, with practical guidance for Hinglish, names, punctuation, and everyday writing.
Start Hindi voice typing
Speak Hindi. Edit the result.
Ready when you are.
Microphone permission is requested only when you press start. Recognition availability and speech processing depend on your browser, operating system, and chosen language.
How Hindi voice typing works here
Hindi voice typing is useful when the idea comes naturally in speech but typing Devanagari slows down the first draft. Select Hindi, allow microphone access, and speak in complete phrases. The browser returns text that you can correct immediately.
Hindi and Marathi both use Devanagari, but they are different recognition languages. Keep the Hindi locale selected for Hindi vocabulary and pronunciation instead of assuming that a shared script makes the models interchangeable.
The page sets hi-IN as the recognition language. The browser still decides whether that language is available and whether processing happens on the device or through a remote service. If recognition is unavailable, the editor remains usable for manual typing and editing.

What a useful Hindi draft can look like
These examples show the intended script and meaning. Recognition output may differ, so compare important sentences carefully.

We need to complete this plan next week. How to type in Hindi using your voice
- 1
Confirm Hindi
The tool opens with Hindi (hi-IN) selected. Keep it selected for the full phrase.
- 2
Allow microphone access
Press start and approve the browser prompt. Permission is not requested before you choose to listen.
- 3
Speak complete phrases
Use a steady conversational pace. Pause between ideas instead of separating every word.
- 4
Review the Devanagari text
Correct names, numbers, punctuation, borrowed words, and any character that changes the intended meaning.
Hindi commands and punctuation behavior
These are not guaranteed application commands. The browser’s speech service decides whether a spoken phrase becomes formatting, punctuation, or literal text. Use the examples as tests and edit the result when behavior differs.
| नई पंक्ति / new line | Try moving the next sentence to a new line. |
|---|---|
| नया पैराग्राफ / new paragraph | Try creating a paragraph break between ideas. |
| उद्धरण चिन्ह / quotation mark | May add quotation punctuation where the service supports it. |
| पूर्ण विराम / full stop | The service may return । or . depending on browser behavior; review formal Hindi text. |
|---|---|
| कॉमा / comma | Usually attempts to insert a comma, but may be transcribed as a word. |
| प्रश्नवाचक चिन्ह / question mark | Try after a complete question and confirm that ? appears. |
Using English words inside Hindi
Hinglish is common in meetings, messages, and technical work, but a single recognition session still has one selected locale. With Hindi selected, common English words may appear in Devanagari, remain in Latin script, or be replaced by a similar Hindi sound. Speak one language for the main sentence when accuracy matters, then correct brand names and technical terms with the keyboard.

Recognition notes for spoken Hindi
Regional pronunciation can change short vowels, aspiration, and the sound of borrowed English words.
The Hindi locale may prefer standard vocabulary even when the speaker uses a regional or conversational alternative.
Names from another Indian language may be easier to correct manually than to repeat many times.
Common Hindi recognition issues
Danda versus full stop
Hindi prose may use the danda (।), while browser dictation may output a Western full stop. Choose one style during editing.
Hinglish script changes
English words can return in Latin letters, phonetic Devanagari, or an unexpected Hindi alternative.
Similar consonants
Lightly pronounced aspiration can affect pairs such as क/ख or द/ध. Slow down only around the problem word.
Proper nouns
People, places, product names, and abbreviations often need manual correction.
Improve Hindi voice typing accuracy
- 1
Use phrase-level context. Say the entire Hindi phrase instead of dictating one isolated word at a time.
- 2
Keep the microphone steady. A consistent distance helps preserve aspirated consonants and softer endings.
- 3
Separate heavy code-switching. Finish the Hindi thought, pause, then say the English name or edit it manually.
- 4
Review matras carefully. Check vowel signs in names and less common words before copying important text.
Ways to use a Hindi voice draft
Hindi messages
Speak a complete personal or community message, then correct names and formality before sending.
Meeting notes
Capture decisions in Hindi while they are fresh and keep English project names as a later editing pass.
Study explanations
Explain a topic in your own Hindi, then verify terminology against the source material.
Hindi voice typing questions
Will Hindi voice typing always use Devanagari?
The hi-IN locale asks the browser for Hindi recognition, which normally targets Devanagari output. English names or mixed speech may still appear in Latin script or in a phonetic Devanagari form.
Can I speak Hinglish?
You can try, but mixed-language accuracy varies. Use Hindi for the sentence framework and manually correct English product names, abbreviations, and specialist vocabulary.
Why did I get a full stop instead of ।?
Punctuation output is controlled by the recognition service. Modern Hindi content may use either convention in different contexts; edit the draft to match your publication style.
Is Hindi recognition the same as Marathi because both use Devanagari?
No. They share a script but use different vocabulary, pronunciation, and language models. Select the language you are actually speaking.
